I purchased a used Weatherby Vanguard chambered in 300 Weatherby. She is the synthetic model produced in 1997 per Weatherby. I glass bed the action, pillar bedded the stock/action, added a Timney trigger (set it at 2.5lbs'ish), added a picatinny rail, and added a Vortex Crossfire II 3x12x56 illuminated scope. The old model synthetic stock is quite thick in comparison to many of today's factory stocks. I balanced her just forward of the trigger guard by adding about ten ounces of lead and foam to the hollow cavity inside the butt area. The heft and lead is spot on for me while stalking now even though she weighs in at 10.5lbs. She kicks like an angry mule on crack hence the weight lol. She is currently being sighted in at 200 yards.
