Couple of hogs with .458 SOCOM

Harvested a couple of feral hogs the other day in South Georgia with my RRA 458 SOCOM. Both broadside at about 35 yards. Bullets zipped clean through. Not giants, but will be tasty! Load as follows:

    RCBS 45-300-FN
    Lyman #2 alloy
    Felix lube
    33.0 gns IMR 4227
    Velocity 1,683 FPS

Those can really make a mess in a field. We try to get rid of as many as we can. Looks like you are off to a good start.

Good shooting. Your post caused me to investigate the 458 SOCOM as it is certainly intriguing. But straight wall cartridges are all I can use in this corner of the woods, as well as across the boarder at the neighboring states' public land. Glad you enjoyed your pig eradication work with great success.

Two more gone to the great pig pen. Adios.

Caliber .45 does seem to get the job done.

That’s a good round for the Canadian super hogs, that are supposedly invading from the north.

ChristopherO----Look into the 450 Bushmaster. Plenty of "thump" there also.
