Vintage CH Super C Press shellholders?

I'm new at the vintage items, but modern industry standard shellholders don't fit. It seems in my uneducated opinion that the ram itself is cut for a particular caliber. Got me to wondering if the ram is the actual shellholder and you have to have different rams for different calibers. I'm sure I'm incorrect on that and any help or remedies you can share will be greatly appreciated.

The early C&H rams, along with others, used cartridge specific rams (30-06, 30-30, etc.). There should be a number on top of the ram that will identify your cartridge if you have a chart to go by. CH4D makes conversion rams for just about all the old presses. james

    I don't think the numbers went up to 72. I'd say 12.

It is in fact a 12. 38spl/357 fits like a glove.

First one of those I’ve even seen in pictures. It reminds me of the Herters “Super U” that has that same general design, but is somewhat more heavily built. I wonder whether it would be possible to buy or make a ram for it that would take standard (universal, RCBS type) shell holders.

I've consulted a machinist who happens to be an avid shooter and outdoorsman about this. He also teaches machining at a local community college, so he said it might be a couple of weeks before he could devote his attention to it. He said he couldn't see why another ram couldn't be milled to accept standard holders. I've also sent an email to CH4D to see if they happen to make an adapter but no word from them yet.

CH is still around and known as CH4D ... they stock replacement press parts and conversion parts to convert to snap in shell holders .
    www.ch4d.com
If you don't see what you want / need on website catalog ... call them , super nice lady has helped me get three old presses up and running ... an Eagle Cobra 300 , Lyman A-A Turret and a Pacific ... they can help with a lot of other brands than just CH .
    Good luck ,

They answered me back and now I guess it's a waiting game. CH4D "hopes" to have the universal ram back in stock sometime this year. Not the answer I wanted, but it is what it is I guess.

Well hopefully good news. Midway USA carries RCBS universal rams that are supposed to fit CH C presses. To my door was 52 bucks which the machinist kid across the street would have charged me more than that to make. We shall see.

If you haven't found a solution with your CH press, Midway sells the adapter to fit standardized shell holder.
I purchased one for my CH press and it works great with the CH press.

I have a CH H press that I've really become impressed with the CH H press, it's really smooth and feels very stout. I've been primarily using the CH for sizing boolits with a LEE sizing kit.
