    Question about the shellholder used for vintage Lyman 310 .357 magnum pistol dies?

    Hello...(I should have asked this question in this vintage forum first...I just did not notice it until today)


    I inherited my Grandfather's Lyman 310 pistol dies...for .357 magnum/38 Special. The set came with the Lyman 7/8"-14 thread adapter for 310 dies and Lyman Model 55 powder measure.

    I can screw in the Lyman thread adapter into my RCBS Rockchucker press with the Lyman 310 pistol dies.

    My question is this: What is the original Lyman shellholder used for this die in a single stage press? I have seen the vintage shellholders for sale on ebay.

    If it's a RCBS press, any of the modern shell holders will fit. Some may not work with the RCBS primer stem, but if you prime off press (as I do) that issue becomes moot. The Lyman SH you would use is the X-1. I don't know the numbers for the other manufacturers off the top of my head.
