44 mag loads?

Title is a bit strange.
But i have again started shooting and casting after a break for 4 years.(40 years of shooting/reloading)
I also obtained again a 44mag from ruger.(YES)
From memory i shot my cast with n110 with my 250gr rcbs with a load of 21 grains

Now here is the thing, getting older and more relaxed(causes) I did reloading way of chard, calculated powder, compared power ect.

Can you give me my memory some refreshment, please?
I really love 44 mag.

When looking at the charts of vihtavuori:
looking at 240 gr with n110 its starting load is 20,4 grain max is 22,1 grain
looking at 267 gr with n110 its starting load is 20,4 grain max is 21.8 grain.
Looking at 250 gr....there is no load, so i thought i did it with 21 grain?

Oke d060 cans is telling me it is simulair to accurate 5744, but looking at the burn rate chart it is a bit slower.
Also from memory i loaded with accurate 5744 or accurate 9?
Somehow i changed to d060, becouse accurate had his name changed.
I thought it was around 19 to 21 grain.

even my lyman handbook(49th edition) gives me no answers.
Except for accurate 9. witch become close to d060 is n110??????

Main question is what do you recommend to be save in both powders d060 and more important n110 from vihtavuori?

When there is no published load I look at the Lee hard cover book and use load data for the next size heavier boolit. I have about 10 reload manuals. Sometimes the mold doesn't drop the correct weight because of the mix. The Lee book has different seating depths for the same boolit. I use Lyman the most.

Lyman 50th gives N110 data with several bullets. Data for a 245 gr weight 429421 SWC 1.710" COL: Start 18 gr, max 20gr @ 38,800 CUP. CCI primers.

I don't have a LOVEX manual in hard copy, but do have pdf pulled from their site. Does not show D060 being used in 44 Mag, but that pdf guide only has a 240 gr in the 44 Rem Magnum.

Be careful w/ seating depth changes (Bullet Base into Case intrusion change, or to put another way: initial cartridge volume) when using surrogate data for handgun rounds.

Thanks, i will make a "ladder" starting at 20gr then go side ways building up and building down the charge.
I will let you know after the weekend, first some reloading to do.

Charge looks good, feels good and one of the powder dispenser is still at 20,8 gr with n110...

Not looking at data but always look for pressure signs.

That Ruger should handle anything you can.

Now is to find the sweet spot for the best shooting.

D060 is not the best powder for 44 magnum. In the USA this powder is sold as Shooters World Buffalo Rifle, so you can look up load data for it under that name. It is similar in burn rate to 5744. It makes a good powder for cast rifle loads, but isn't the best choice for the 44 magnum. N110 would have better performance in that cartridge than D060.

Only Note of Contention...is the assumption that data for "next heavier bullet" is good... I truly believe that the "available powder space" is more relevant...certainly when "ball" powders are considered.
Note...If N110 is as close to H110/W296 as I have been led to believe... My bet is you are right where you want to be....

Foe what it is worth: I use a 280gr PB NOE mold bullet. With a load of HS-6 I drive it right at 1100 fps from the 7.5"Bbl of my Riger Redhawk. Extremely accurate. It is cast from my Very old supply of scrap WW. BHN 10.5. Very manageable to shoot , & it delivers considerable momentum.

Your 21.0 grain load sounds more like an H-110 load than an N-110 load, although there is some overlap. But 21.0 is pretty near a top end number for a 44 mag using the Vitavouri Powder, while it a start load for Hodgdon's H-110, at least with ~250 grain 44 boolits. I have found N-110 to be more like 2400 than its namesake.

I have to check my loads these days, because save for a very few, (i.e, 3.5 grains, Bullseye, 38 Spl, 158 grn.) I just can't trust my memory any more.
