    Swedish rolling block 89, cal.8x58RD

    Hi Guys,

I renovate my new old guns Swedish rolling block 1889, year manufacture is 89.
I would like to know what the best labore for a target shooting, what is the max. loading of cartridges.
My starting info is:brass DO, from Vienna, bullet 12,7grams (Sellier Bellor, full metal), powder CZ lovex D73.6 or S62 or Black powder Vesuvit LC1.
Gun is in a very good condition.

    Thank you for your advices.

    Hi Mira

    Welcome!

I’m having trouble understanding your terminology. I hope someone here will be able to answer your questions.

iirc - labore is a Spanish word for to make work - could he mean loading ?

I doubt that you used powder from the czech company Explosia/syntesia (name of powder: Lovex), the comparison tables are very rough and Iam afraid that the limit will not be exceeded, if you have give me the link for the exact comparison table. Thanks.

thank you the second link I see this first in my life, so now is a question how much of (Western powders, Hodgdon powders, Winchester propellants, Alliant, IMR, Vihta Vuory)???
Do you use any one from these powders?
Or do you have any loading data for a cartridge 8x58RD, but safety for a rolling block, not for Danish Krag-Jorsengen (Krag-Jorsengen is possibly more massive(more massive barrel, bolt, breechblock...)) then Swedish rolling block 89 or have better material used.

I use 20.0 grs of ImR 4198, behind a Lee .324 diamter, 225 gr slug I cast, with gas check. It shoots very good out to 200 yds, as far as I have taken it. Recoil is not bad. I also use 170 gr, roundnos with 15gr. of Unique powder, and it shoots very well, with extremely low recoil. I hope this helps. These are not maximum loads or close to it.
