How does a point forming die work?

I've been swaging bullets using .22RF hulls for a few years now with dies from RCE. I've made bullets that weigh from 45gr to 65gr. These are called "open-point" bullets by RCE (he doesn't refer to them as hollow points.) At 65 grs they pretty much fill the jacket to the nose. My point forming die ejects the final swaged bullet with a thin wire through the hollow nose of the bullet. I'd like to add a pointing die to my set-up & the ability to add a polymer tip. I can't wrap my head around just how a point forming die can do this?

    TIA...
