    Sodastream Adapter

We use a Sodastream to carbonate our well water. It tastes great. We have been using more and more CO2. The cost adds up to keep refilling the canisters. Has anyone come up with an adapter to run a big CO2 bottle with them or refill the canisters?
    Thanks

I have a 20 lb CO2 cylinder. We carbonate tap water in the 2 liter plastic bottles with a CO2 regulator set to 40 PSI. We carbonate the cold water with a carbonating stone on the bottom of the bottle plus shaking the bottle to increase the surface area of contact between the CO@ and the water. The stone is not needed but it reduces the amount of shaking needed.
The plastic soda bottles have a burst pressure above 100 PSI (ask me how I know) so even 60 PSI can be used for faster carbonation. The connections are all available on Amazon or any brewing equipment supply We make our carbonated water for less than $0.01 a liter I refill the cylinder about every 2 years.

This is not exactly how I do it, but close.

There is no difference between communism and socialism, except in the means of achieving the same ultimate end: communism proposes to enslave men by force, socialism—by vote. It is merely the difference between murder and suicide. Ayn Rand

I haven't used this in decades, but it is pretty self-explanatory.

I quit using mine before Amazon existed.

I fill a 5 gallon soda keg(I brew beer and use them as beer kegs) and toss it in the beer fridge at 30PSI. Carbonates in 3 days and once carbonated I can pull it and stash it as the spare and swap in the other full and carbonated one to pour from via a separate tap on the fridge door. Can see it here as the top red CO2 line going straight to the keg. Bottom is 12psi for beer serving. I can also use the 30psi line to force carbonate beer faster.

Second pic are my taps and tap handles for the beer. Soda tap is out of picture to the right but same setup.

Is all CO2 food grade or do have to pay attention to what you buy?

So, with those handles, do pour a shot, or a round? Carbonated minds would like to know!

All Co2 is food grade; but the bottle/tank the CO2 is in can contain contaminates - So ensure you have a CO2 source in a Food Gradebottle/tank.

I buy mine from a fire extinguisher place. Has to be pure, can't be spraying contaminates on a fire and having who knows what chemical reaction!
