    Zinc plating with black finish

I just came across this method and it seems to give more protection than cold blue and a lot easier than rust bluing.
How will it work for gun parts? Anyone tried this?

That is pretty neat, but parking is a lot easier to do that how he describes it.
you can do it with a electric burner from walmart and any stainless steel vessel.
These men and their hypnotized followers call this a new order. It is not new. It is not order.

Greg: Black zinc plating is a functional corrosion resistance finish suitable for fasteners and hardware, NOT firearms. The black dyed chromate is actually a gel that delays the zinc from corroding, but it doesn't last if exposed to moisture or a corrosive electrolyte like salt water. It certainly is NOT abrasion resistant and is readily scraped off.

Once the black chromate film is breached, the zinc starts to corrode forming "white rust" - this is the zinc version of the white, voluminous powdery corrosion products seen on clearcoated polished cast aluminum auto wheels after 8-12 years. Unsightly as all get out. But white rust is a sign that the zinc plating is doing its job. One all of the metallic zinc is oxidized, the steel underneath starts forming the familiar "red rust". Again, inexpensive and effective for fasteners and hardware but not at all suited for finishing firearms - if it were, manufacturers sould already be offering it on their guns.
