Henry BBS 44 Mag Done My Way As Usual Good old Tax Time

    Ok Guy's/Girl's

Tax Time Again, Time for a new Henry

Well I have been working on it ever since buying it. I am a shorter fella so I always have to cut the LOP down to 12.5" which I did on this rifle. Bought a used Military style sling for it that was shortened by someone. I had lengthen it back to an original length with some leather that I sewed in. I originally bought a Henry saddle ring, they are good for the 22's but a little small for the BB rifles. While drilling the receiver for the saddle ring I broke the tap off in the hole. Oops, so I ordered a Winchester that took a bigger hole and tap and re drilled and tapped the same hole in the receiver.

So here is what was done.

    1. Sling put on
    2. Saddle ring ( which I put on all my rifles, yes a bling kind of thing)
    3. Marble Bullseye rear sight
    4. Cut LOP to 12.5"
    5. Wrapped the Big Loop Lever

Rifle fits perfect and can't wait to get it out to my range this weekend.

    Aim Small, Miss Small.

Nice, you got her to fit you. I have a couple of Henry's. I just don't care for how they fit me. You did it right - for you. Let us know the range report. Good luck.

Thank you guy's for the comments. Hopefully it does not rain all weekend but it is March in Kentucky so it probably will. If not I will be sighting her in this weekend.

Very nicely done.... the stock work looks factory.... that's a good job!
I have the same gun, but in .357.... Henry makes a very nice lever gun. I was a little concerned the removable mag tube might bother me, but it is actually sort of handy to have that as an option. I seldom use it, but I had to when I loaded up some rounds that didn't want to feed right...simple to remove and just slide them out of the tube.
Mine has been more than "accurate enough"... I put a Skinner aperture on it, and that has helped my grouping a bunch.

I had thought about wrapping my lever, but I've read a bunch of comments from people that say it can rust the lever when the wrapping absorbs moisture.. have you heard anything about that happening?

Very nice job... hope it is as accurate as it is handsome....

Good job and a great looking lever gun . I hope it shoots lights out for you . I have broke taps and drill bits off in a hole, it’s never a fun thing, unless you’ve experienced it you can’t even imagine. Love them lever guns, good luck with it!
Keep your powder dry and watch your six !!
