    Anyone Feeling Crabby - Dungeness??

Good Lord, I'm having a very crabby year. I've got a great crab connection here where I live, and I've been able to get all I want for the last six weeks or so for the price of $4.50 per pound. That aint free, but it's pretty durned good for fresh crab that's less than 24 hours out of the ocean.

These grumpy lookin guys weigh 2 or more pounds each, and I get almost a pound of clean meat from each one. I've been trying to eat enough of them to get tired of it, but it's hard. I get tired of the cracking, but not the eating. jd
It seems that people who do almost nothing, often complain loudly when it's time to do it.

I love them dearly but the price has risen out of sight this far from the big salty water.

25$ a pound, 10 lb box for leg sections shipped. That is just a bit rich for my taste.
I truly believe we need to get back to basics.

    Get right with the Lord.
    Get back to the land.
Get back to thinking like our forefathers thought.

May the Lord bless you and keep you. May the Lord make His face to shine upon you and be gracious unto you
and give you His peace. Let all of the earth – all of His creation – worship and praise His name! Make His
    praise glorious!

Never developed a taste for lobster, crab, oysters, mussels, and and oily/ really fishy tasting salt water fish... Grew up eating northern pike and walleye. we always had a limit of both in the freezer(7 people fishing = a lot of fish!), and as I got into my late teens added flathead catfish(mild, very meaty texture, large flakes of fish like cod) to the menu. 3 flathead limit, 5-10 pound fish and 2 limits in the freezer would send me into winter with 20+ pounds of catfish fillets in the freezer. Catfish over 10 pounds went back, they are the breeders! My best flathead on 10 pound test line is 47 pounds now!

    Too bad , Mary
Living in the upper Midwest you are far from either ocean.
I grew up , and still live, 30 miles from the left coast.
I buy Dungeness crab on a regular basis.
The price locally now is around $8 a lb.
One 2# crab will make 2 Crab Louis salads for me.
I don`t mind cleaning and cracking a crab or 2.
I once cleaned and cracked 50 crabs.
It took me 2 days and I had some pretty sore hands.
It was worth it. lots of good eating there.
