I am not too interested in normal stuff like deer so these are way down the list.

Rodent is a much underutilized food source.

In many states technically you need a permit to possess any part of a deer other than shed antlers.

However since you are removing it from the road surface (and the potential for causing another accident) they tend to be fairly liberal in handing out those permits.

I have done it both ways, but back then I was hunting and there was no such thing as a DNA test so no way to tell the road kill from the legally harvested and tagged deer.
I truly believe we need to get back to basics.

    Get right with the Lord.
    Get back to the land.
Get back to thinking like our forefathers thought.

May the Lord bless you and keep you. May the Lord make His face to shine upon you and be gracious unto you
and give you His peace. Let all of the earth – all of His creation – worship and praise His name! Make His
    praise glorious!

I think any game meat is better than what they sell us in the stores.

We had chicken thighs the other day that had no flavor.

I know people who stock up on squirrels when the season opens - before the deer hunters hit the woods. I'm thinking of going that route. Wouldn't hurt to have a possession limit of ten in the freezer.

Growing up we took our 22 rifles to school for rifle team. We were expected to hunt after school and bring home something to eat. Extra went in the freezer for winter... family of 7 and with all 7 of us hunting we had full freezers... squirrel, rabbit, game birds, ducks/geese(BLECH, I cannot stand these now), we usually put 5 or more deer in the freezer... if we had enough game meat the head of beef we raised on the farm got sold to pay for Christmas...

Rabbits and squirrels are also rodents. Only difference between a squirrel and a rat is squirrels have a fuzzy tail and better PR. Rabbits got short furry tails, long ears, and better PR.
