Anybody have a source, or dies, for a ~1.2" long .243/.244" Round Nose?

Trying to help some friends get a project moving.
Due to action and brass limitations, we need a 110-120 gr RN that is as close as we can get to 1.2" long (or up to 1.254" long, if possible).
Must be smooth-sided, at least outside of the case.
We can't get there with cast lead. Too much weight and/or not enough length. Also no molds available, and getting one made is not going smoothly.

    Anybody making something to consider?
    Or know of a source?

I've checked with every custom bullet company that I can find. Only one (two?) could do a .243" RN, but only in lighter weights and shorter lengths.

    Thanks for any help.

You might go on Corbin's website and look at the things he recommends.
There are some ideas to make bullets lighter and longer?
    Good luck!

My advice on the Corbin website is to screen shoot any info you find valuable and may need to refer to again in the future. The website is full of a TON of info but it is laid out terribly lol. I often find that getting to a section of the site I had visited in the past can be tricky lol.

Thanks for the replies, but I need someone that can actually swage the bullets. (Not Corbin's rambling and self-promotion. )

Talk to BT Sniper. He might be able to swage and “trade” you some bullets

I would check back with the 2 custom companies and see if they can make a RN with an airsoft BB as the nose. Looks like the only way to get the diameter/weight/length you need.

I can swage long 243 bullets but my point forming die is more low drag shape. Is the length more important than the nose shape?

PM me if you want to discuss

I get 120gr with long 1.25 jackets made from 22 mag brass that I draw down for .224 projectiles. I'll play with what I've got over the next couple weeks and bullet balls to see if I can work out a round nose .243. I'll shoot you a PM and we can talk. BT sniper can probably take some time and make a die setup to produce round nose .243 dies but the jackets will be tough to source as the 22 mag brass will be a bit to short I think to reach that length without an extra bullet ball/airsoft BB.

My guess is that you'll need a 1/4" copper tubing die set to go with it to produce your jackets and draw them down to .241ish "

Alrighty I'm back. The 22mag brass is probably close to, if not just right for what your looking for. You want a round nose lead tip? The 22mag brass gets you just under 1.2" but you could comp that with exposed lead round nose tip. I'm able to get 120 grain .224 open tip with a 6s ogive. This is BT snipers set of derimming dies that iron out 22mag brass that I end up using for 6.5 projectiles, but they would work perfect for .243 as well as it's a bit up a stretch to get them up to .264. I'm moving their diameter right at .242ish after I iron out the rim and the length is 1.145".

    Here's a couple pics.

Closest thing that was recently and remotely available was Speer #1223 which was a 105gn .243 diameter RN. It was discontinued a while back.

    Thanks for the replies, guys.
I have a bullet swager in NY working on this for us. He needs a point form die, but should be able to get them made.

Also, I feel bad for not being more specific in the first post. This bullet needs to have very little taper, to about 0.218" from the tip (then the very blunt RN). Basically a test tube shape.

SSG_Reloader, thank you for taking the time at the bench to see what you could do for us. I really appreciate it. I feel bad for wasting your time on an ogive that wouldn't work, and I could have been more clear about in the beginning.

wyowillys - Yea, we've tried a box of those. They don't quite have the right shape or length. Getting hard to find, as well.
