    Musket cap die?

Hey, does anyone know where I can find a musket cap die?

Nobody makes them that I know of. Plans for making them have been here on this forum.. I started to make one but I never finished it. I only have one sharps rifle that uses them . A few have swapped the musket nipple for the smaller No11 nipple and went with that and used the Cap maker from 22 reloader.

Ah that's unfortunate. I was also planning on going that route as well for a Ped 1963 Sharps. Have you had any issues w/ ignition? Are the caps fiddly to put on?

I only use my no11 homemade caps on my revolvers and side lock rifles. If I was to start shooting the sharps again I would give the home made one a good go. As it is now ,my caps are powerful and very reliable . Even better than the caps currently available at high prices. I have not been keeping count but no failures to fire the guns in the last two years of matches. They go on the nipples the same as any other cap. It can be cheap to do as well. I use double sided pop cans. So that cost is almost nothing . Cost is likely $0.30 per hundred this way.If using brass the cost is $2.30 per hundred

What compound and any fancy methods you use to make your percussion caps?

I use H48 which is basically what the Prime all compound makes.
I just mix the prime all by Weight.
Not by scoop volume as prime all instructions say.
The Scoop ratios work, but not as well as mixed by weight.
I also make up FC 42 which is made from three of the chemicals found in the Prime All materials.
The ratios for these mixes are available on the Frankfort site.
