Greetings,
I have a 0.392" round ball mould.
What rifle/pistol uses such a diameter?
Cheers,
Dave

Would it make a .40 cal patched ball?
I also say it would be for a .40
I have an antique Savage and North .36 BP revolver in which I shoot .390 roundballs. Other .36 BP revolvers use .375 or .380 balls but, for some reason, the Savage and North is oversized, possibly by design or simply due to its age. It was tough to find the .390s.
fc60 A little more description of the mold will help.
For hundreds of years ML rifle smiths made a mold for that rifle with details how to load .
"Come unto Me, all you who labor and are heavy burdened, and I will give you rest." Matthew 11:28
Male Guanaco out in dry lakebed at 10,800 feet south of Arequipa.
It would be an excellent round ball for a .410 round ball load. I believe the British.410 musket cartridge used this diameter ball. The British.410 musket is a SMLE reamed out .410 and converted to single shot, for colonial police use.
Greetings,
The only other clues I can offer are that it is a Hensley & Gibbs one-cavity mould.
"392" stamped on the side of one block.
A quick check with calipers suggest that it is 0.392". I will cast a few in the next week or so just to verify.
Cheers,
Dave
Using Daves question regarding his .392 Round Ball mold….that patched, it would be for a .40 caliber musket.
Am I right in assuming that I could get Track of the Wolf Primitive Scissors Mold, .680" round ball and use it for a .69 caliber musket.
I am still trying to get a mold for a friends future 1835-1843 .69 caliber musket. When he finds it.
Track of the Wolf has one that is currently out of stock right now.
Knowing the purist he is, I think he would appreciate this mold.
