    J&G S&W Gunsmith Specials

J&G has Smith & Wesson K frame revolver frames without barrels.
They were originally 2” barreled. To put a longer barrel on the ejector rod needs to be replaced. They are also square bits and round butts.

Does anyone know if you can request the butt configuration that you want?

When they were available you could but they appear not to be not currently available.

I picked up one years ago and restored it.
But I live close enough to J&G that I can go and select the guns I want to buy.
They also have a Gunsmith School not too far from them.
Those students buy a lot of stuff from them to work on .

My brother and I each bought a part of them last year and were able to fit them up with replacement 2 inch barrels. "Pugly," as I have named the first one, has proven to be an excellent revolver, amply accurate for use out to 50 yards and even more useful as a point and shoot extreme close range gun. They were Century Arms imports, but were pretty solid. You might be able to find somebody with one for sale, as several people bought a bunch of them with the intent of building their own snubbies, but the supply of frames outran the supply of 2" barrels.

I believe that this 4” came back to the U.S.A. via Century. The barrel is a pinned type but the round butt frame is not. The barrel was loose.
    It’s all good now.

Looks like J&G no longer has these, but fear not, Centerfire Systems has quite a few S&W Model 10- Gunsmith Specials.

The biggest waste of time is arguing with the fool and fanatic who doesn't care about truth or reality, but only the victory of his beliefs and illusions.
There are people who, for all the evidence presented to them, do not have the ability to understand.

I got my Model 10 receiver today and screwed the 4” barrel on and it lig Ed up with a little effort!
The 4” barrel doesn’t have a smooth transition to the frame but this is not a showpiece!
I need to enlarge the barrel/cylinder gap because there is only about 1/1000 gap!
I was happy to find out that it is a square butt!
I hope to shoot it soon.
