Re Chambering from 7mm to 45-70

Hello Ive been absent for awhile so hopefully I am at the right spot. Just got a RRB #5 in 7mm. Looks like its great except for the barrel. Can it be rebored to another caliber IE 45-70 with changing the barrel?

Reboring the barrel will depend on what the diameter is. If the action's in good shape it should work well for a 45-70, but you don't want to end up with a barrel that has paper thin walls. If it's a heavy octagon barrel it should be OK. If it's a sporter barrel it might be too slim.

If the muzzle diameter is 5/8" (.625") or more it should be fine.

Thank everyone, Any recommendations on a smith? For a re-barrel or barrel. Not looking for a custom rifle. Would like to be original as much as possible.

You might try calling Bobby Hoyt if you want to Re Bore your barrel.

+1 on Bobby Hoyt. He's done about 5 barrels for me and does excellent work.

Hello Been absent for awhile, away for the Winter. Anyway just wanted to comment That Mr John Taylor out of Idaho, Lewiston redid my barrel for me. Wow!!! What a great job at a great price. Excellent work. He is on the web site so I would highly recommend. Thanks John
