New target from range trash

Find these little spinners busted up at the range pretty frequently. usually a busted stand or someone pops a hole in one with something bigger then advised. People will just chuck them over the side of the berms for the forest service to pick up. Well I have a small pile and they can be a fun little welding project. Just finished this one up. Had to fill a few holes and flush grind them but really proud of the stand cool folds up and and can support it's self on flat surfaces
Really happy with this because was able to play round with cutting and fitting some angles wich I've never been the best at honestly should have paid more attention in geometry

I've made a few steel targets, and I've bought some, but all of them required something to hang them from. That's when I realized that pile of undesignated inventory scrap steel that I've been accumulating was not just scrap. Designing and building steel targets is a big part of the fun.

Mine is made with 1/2" plate and they say it can take hits from a full house .30-06 at 100 yards.

It is a light weight impact swinger, but now the former junk is a serviceable target, good deal.
That twisted metal design, needs light weight impact at lower velocities.

Some of my homemade steel targets are made of salvaged 1/2" thick steel that is rusty on one side. Some of those rust pits are deep. The targets stand up easily to 9mm, .38 special, .357, and .45 Colt, but a .223 puts nice, little, round holes in them. All the way through.

Our range is spotless.
If it doesn't grow, and it ain't a rock--- it isn't on the ground there either.
The people that run are range are clean freaks.

There aren't any trash cans on the range. Whatever you bring to the range--- you take it home too.
If you drive in the mud and leave ruts- they even have a shovel so you can fill them back in.
There's been folks that lost their memberships for leaving trash at the range a 2nd time.

How much would that target be if you were making/selling them? Before fright of course.

I have found a few of those metal targets made for 22 RF.
It seems that shooters just forget about them and drive away without them.
There are a number of shooting spots in our area.
The closest shooting range is 50 miles away.
People go into the woods and find rock pits and log landings to shoot.
I pick up a lot of brass at these spots.
