Yes what barrel did it come with ? This 44 mag goes on a SB 2 as does my 45/70 and a 30-06 /308/and a Partner 20 ga . Look on the barrel you have it will say SB1or SB2 at least mine does/Ed
The barrel can be stamped SB 2 and have originally come on a SB 1 receiver. The SB 1 is for low pressure rounds, like 45-70, 30-30, hornet, shotgun, etc. You can't depend on the barrel stamp. And a different barrel may fit your receiver, but it may not. Interchange is hit or miss.
Is a 44 mag high pressure ,This barrel came with a SB 2 receiver (I'm looking at it) bought it for the neighbors kid and then got him a 45/70 barrel so This one I don't need (44 mag) but it is a shooter! And it fits every one I have /Ed
Geezer is correct. The stamp on the barrel doesn’t correspond to the receiver type. You need to take the stock off and look at the receiver to know what you have.

I guess everyone is now educated on receivers and barrels for the Handi/NEF rifle ,so let the buyer inspect his receiver and decide on buying or not !!! Like I said it doesn't take up a lot of room/Ed
The 44 mag is kosher for either type of receiver, so that isn't a concern.
