Your suggestions for light 25-35 loads with 110 to 117 gr boolits?

Looking for recommendations for light loads for the 25-35 using 110-117 gr boolits, preferably using Unique or a similar powder?

I got a NIB Miroku model 94 really reasonable b/c in these parts it's not a popular cartridge. I was interested b/c a late dear friend of mine had one and used it on varmints and deer at close range. Unfortunately I don't have his load data, or access to it. I've read and re-read the Pet Loads chapter on the 25-35, and have played with 3031 before Thanksgiving and the bad weather. I'd like to work up some light Unique loads for plinking and whatnot.

    Thanks much in advance!

    Noah,
To my surprise there's nothing about the 25-35 in Lyman's 3rd Cast Bullet manual. But here's
where I would start, and will be doing similar this spring in my 25-36 Marlin.
5gr of Unique should be just fine, going off what Lyman recommends for starting loads
with Unique for the 250Savage and the 256Magnum. I'll assume you're shooting cast
in the 110-120gr range. That should be getting you Mach 1.
NB! A suggestion, not a tested load by myself, but I'd feel comfortable with that powder
and boolit weight. A short range plinking round suitable for tin cans and bunnies out to
50yds. Caveat Reloadari! (you're on your own!)
A population of sheep will beget a government of wolves.

Many thanks! I'll try that 5 gr when the weather breaks and let you know how things go.

Lyman #40 shows 5 to 8.3 grains of Unique should get you what you want.
    Take a kid along

Thank you! That's one of the Lyman manuals I don't have.

    woody1,
Thanks for the confirmation of my extrapolation.
    Cheers!

    Noah,

Don't know if you're aware of powder burn rate charts, showing the variation in "speeds" of a variety/brands of powder. Especially in the
current shortages/availability problems, I find them very useful. Eg, I don't have any Unique on hand, but have a LOT of Herco, a tad slower
than Unique. Careful reloading practices and attention to detail and you'll be fine working up a light plinking load. A miroku built firearm
will be MUCH stronger than the vintage guns that the older reloading manuals are created for.

    Here's an interesting thread on powder equivalents;

I use a charge of 2400 with 100gn cast boolit in my Martini 25/25. The twist in mine is 1:10" which is faster than the original chambering. You may find that your rifle will not stabilise the 117gn at low velocity.

Hold Still Varmint; while I plugs Yer!

This is from Hodgdon #24, maybe not what your looking for but handy to have. Most loading manuals neglect to mention the 25-35 at all.

With the NOE 89gr FNGC I’ve used 7.5gr of Unique or 12.5gr of #2400.
    These aren’t max loads.
I also need to mention these are .25-36Marlin loads. I use a fire formed re-sized once fired Factory Winchester .30-30 brass. My Rifle is a Marlin M1893 rifle w/26”bbl.

    With a 110gr Hornady FTX I use 27.5gr of CFE-223 for 2,250fps.

Thanks very much to everyone who responded. I may try some non-Unique powders as well, like 2400, 4198, 4895, and BLc2. I have more of those and other powders than I'll ever shoot up.
