    Keven coster movie

I just saw that Costner made a movie in 2019 about Frank Hamer, the Texas Ranger who tracked down Bonnie & Clyde. It also starred Woody Harrelson. I had never heard about the film. Has anyone seen it and is it worth tracking down and watching?

    The Highwaymen: https://www.imdb.com/title/tt1860242/

I saw it when I had Netflix and it was a decent movie. Nothing groundbreaking but was a solid film.

That's got to be "The Highwaymen".

I'm not a big Woody Harrelson fan.
It doesn't really capture how bad ass and tenacious of a dude Ranger Hammer really was, but I liked it.

Thank guys. Frank Hamer said Clyde Barrow would drive a thousand miles in a day on the roads of the time which were narrow and two just lanes. I have seen the car they were killed in. Lots of bullet holes. I will get the film.

A lot of those roads were just dirt back then too. Going over 25 mph felt like you were being beaten to death.
Doing that kind of mileage, you just about had to live in your car.
And the cars of the day needed lots of maintenance or you couldn't trust them to go around the corner to the local store.

Crooks could always steal another one and get back on the road, Hammer couldn't really do that with his.

I saw the movie it is supposed to be fairly accurate.
I seen the car and met some folks that supposedly where there back when they were killed in bienville Parrish, or at least the folks putting on the big deal about it said it was the car, back in the 80's when I lived in Louisiana before they hauled it out to California, rebuilt it and put it in the great race.

Huh, never heard of it but i've become more of a Costner fan since the epic Dancing With Wolves. If you have not seen that on a big screen you missed something. To have lived in the times of the expansion into the Great Prairies must have been something.

If memory serves me correctly, I was intrigued with movie as I had just acquired a Model 8 Remington. Sadly, it may have not been all that correct/accurate, but a college professor I once had used to state that: "the winner of the war is the one who gets to write the story." From historical accounts, it is not 100% right on. BUT -- on the other hand -- it surely is not the worst way one might spend a couple of hours.
I was a tad disappointed in the historical inaccuracies -- but, again, it was an enjoyable film.

If you go out to the Ambush site today ... except for the road being asphalt, instead of gravel ,
not much has changed ... nothing around for miles but rolling hills and piney woods ...you in the middle of nowhere , no houses , no stores , no filling stations, no nothing as far as the eye can see and then some ... there is a big white marble marker , marking the site and what happened .
A couple miles away in Gibsland , LA at 2419 Main Street , is the Bonnie and Clyde Ambush Musem ...
If you haven't seen it ... you should ... more authentic B & C memorbilia than you can imagine ... very interesting place .

Frank Hamer was retired at the time. Bonnie and Clyde were on a roll! They robbed and murdered alot of folks and cops! The state of Texas hired the two retired Rangers to track down and take out Bonnie and Clyde. The best scene is Frank Hamer buying guns in a hardware store! Pay attention! He bought a 21 Colt Thompson and a Colt Monitor BAR along with a pile of other irons. Frank Hamer's favorite gun was the Remington Model 8 in 35 Remington because when he was interviewed said that 35 Rem would shoot through the firewall of a Ford Model A. Great movie! Saw it three times!! We have our firearms rights infringed! Should be able to buy any gun in a hardware store!!! Still have a Remington Model 81 Woodsmaster in 30 Remington. Fun to shoot!!!

It caught my eye that he also bought a case of ammo all off the shelf--- at some small town store.
And it was just to hunt down 4-5 people. But then again, they were armed about as well as the Rangers.

Here's a video with some original footage taken shortly after the ambush. Hamer did have a Model 8. Later it was reported that he had a Police version with the extended mag, but that model (Model 81) wasn't made until later.

The gun shop scene was really funny. Good film overall, but I did enjoy waterworld.
