Try a small batch and see how well it covers.

Don't see why not, it's powder paint. Only down side to it is the cost of the little jar compared to what you can get one pound of powder for from Eastwood or the such. I use it all the time for making fushing lures and it does great. But if you're just wanting to try it out it should work just the same.
