    Percolator Coffee pot tips.

So I picked this up at a yardsale.

I think it’s newer and it had a mad in Taiwan sticker. But anyways, I can use one on the stove (and not that well), but I want to learn to use it over a campfire. So I’d like all the suggestions I can get.

    Thanks!

One guy I knew had a junk frying pan to put under his when he set it on the coal/embers.
    It kept the bottom cleaner.
In Boy Scouts, we rubbed pot bottoms with a bar of soap to make them easy to clean.

OK People. Enough of this idle chit-chat.

Get water hot throw in a hand full of coffee, cook a while, use a strainer over cup, that's how the cook at the logging camp did it, many years ago. I have one similar that, I use to make bullet lube.

I once had one of those types. After a couple of tries, I threw the guts away and made cowboy coffee in it for years.

Get yourself a small metal stand or some metal plate to put directly on top of embers. Basically you don't want to put it directly on top of embers unless you like cleaning it constantly.

I still use mine when hunting and fishing, nothing like a cup of black coffee while watching the sunrise.

Sitting in the desert with a mesquite wood fire watching the sun creep over the mountains. Nothing better!

An old technique was to boil water, throw in ground coffee, boil a bit more, then drop a raw egg in to settle the grounds. Nowadays that could be an expensive way to do it...

I see that's a left handed coffee pot.
