For Thought and Meditation - Monday, December 05

Good morning all. A great message of good news and hope. Have a safe and blessed day.

    The Best Friend of All

by Greg Laurie on Dec 5, 2022

But God showed his great love for us by sending Christ to die for us while we were still sinners.
    —Romans 5:8

A time of hardship or crisis often reveals who our real friends are. When we’re going through difficulties, we’re often disappointed because certain people we thought of as friends don’t come through for us.

But we can also be surprised when those whom we never thought of as friends stand up for us or are there for us in our time of need. An old adage says that a true friend walks in when others walk out.

The Bible tells us that there is “a friend who sticks closer than a brother” (Proverbs 18:24 NKJV). That friend, of course, is Jesus Christ.

God proved His willingness to have friendship with us in a tangible way. Romans 5:8 tells us, “But God showed his great love for us by sending Christ to die for us while we were still sinners” (NLT).

Jesus was called the friend of sinners, and that was certainly not meant as a compliment. But He really was, and is, the friend of sinners. In fact, He is the best friend that sinners can ever have. And He showed His desire to have friendship with us when He went to the cross and died in our place while we were still His enemies.

I don’t know how many people would die for their friends, but I think many people would be willing to die for their husbands, wives, or children. However, I think there are very few people who would die for their enemies.

Yet, while we were still sinners, while we were still God’s enemies, Jesus died for us, showing us His friendship. In fact, Jesus said, “Greater love has no one than this, than to lay down one’s life for his friends” (John 15:13 NKJV). Jesus showed that great love. Talk about having friends in high places. Jesus is the best friend we can ever have.
Let every nation know, whether it wishes us well or ill, that we shall pay any price, bear any burden, meet any hardship, support any friend, oppose any foe, in order to assure the survival and the success of liberty.

PineBaron your message is right on the money. 26 years ago my wife and I got married. Sent out invitations to a big circle of what we thought were friends. Of that list of over 50 only 4 showed up. I learned a lot that day.

A "True" friend is one who will show up to bail you out of jail at 2am without ever asking a question.
B A "true" friend is the one who when you are stranded 60 miles out of town on a holiday weekend with Car Troubles will show up with truck, tow strap, and a smile. Stuff happens.

C People are going to come and go into your life. Its natural, it happens.
If your smart, the ones that are good get told that you love them.
And when they go, which they will. At least you can look back and say. Hey, I cared about them, and I told them so. I did my best.
I truly believe we need to get back to basics.

    Get right with the Lord.
    Get back to the land.
Get back to thinking like our forefathers thought.

May the Lord bless you and keep you. May the Lord make His face to shine upon you and be gracious unto you
and give you His peace. Let all of the earth – all of His creation – worship and praise His name! Make His
    praise glorious!
