    357 max hunting boolit

So I got the wife a 357 maximum in a encore carbine 16.25 length barrel for hogs and now she shoots more than I do. Jackets are getting $$$ so. Read a lot about accuracy mould like the 180 sil but do they hunt? I need a good hunting mould of about 180gr that is In stock NOE has 1 I like but not in stock. Any help?

For hogs, I would lean more to a 200 flat nose. The easy answer is:

    https://www.titanreloading.com/produ...old-c358200rf/

Click on the Titan link at the top of the page and Cast Boolits gets some kind of consideration I think.

I had a 10" contender 357 Max barrel that loved the Lee 200.

There is lots of hunting experience out there with this bullet profile (From RCBS, Lee & others) as fired from 35 Rem, 357 Max, 350L. I have never seen a report of "I used the LEE/RCBS 200 and it did not work as well as ....".

The Lee 200 gr gas checked cast is my most accurate bullet in my .357 mag handi rifle. Not a max but not that much difference.

I load mine in .360DW cases just a thousandth off the riling.
Sighting in the scope I got 3 in one ragged hole @ 50 yards which is good enough for me.
At 100 it will consistantly print groups of 1 inch to 1.25". But that is more about the shooter than the bullet/load/gun.
I truly believe we need to get back to basics.

    Get right with the Lord.
    Get back to the land.
Get back to thinking like our forefathers thought.

May the Lord bless you and keep you. May the Lord make His face to shine upon you and be gracious unto you
and give you His peace. Let all of the earth – all of His creation – worship and praise His name! Make His
    praise glorious!

I have a 180 grain gas check wfn 'Larsen' that Mihec made as a group buy. I think NOE has a similar one? I like to push mine with 26 grains of Accurate 1680. You might check Mihec's sale, going on now. I used the RCBS 35-200 a few years ago on a whitetail, bullet 'pencilled' right thru, found the doe, but shectravelled a long ways. Think I will like the wfn. hc18flyer

That’s what I was afraid of with the RCBS 200. The “Larsen” out of stock at MP, but does anyone have an opinion on his c 360-180rf?

The original bullet Lyman made for the Max was the 358627 a 225 gr swc. It is still a great choice.

MT Gianni. ~. I love that bullet. Cast a bunch of 'em! Great on hogs. Need to expand my experiences and use it on deer.

My favorite Maxi bullet is the SSK 200 grained bullet designed by J. D. Jones. It was accurate enough to win me a couple of Sillywett Championships and dropping a slew of hogs. Always ahead of WW296 powder.

I've got 2 - 358627 molds. One is a Lyman and the other is a Lee group buy from this site. l think they are just a tad heavy for the max. I have better luck with some of the 180 grn. molds. I wish I would have ordered a 190 Ranch Dog when he was selling them.
