This bullet is intended for 36 cap and ball revolvers. Has anyone used it as a heeled bullet for loading 38 short colt? If not, has anyone used the conical bullet from the 2 cavity brass molds for 38 short colt? Thanks

I don't think that'll work without a lot of finagling. A 38 short Colt has an neck diameter of .379 and was designed for a boolit like the old Lyman 358-160, which had a reduced heel. Now you could jury-rig a 358 sizing die in a Lyman 450 and then use one of the gas check seater stems to size just the bottom band of your Lee boolit. However, I am not certain that would give you a band big enough for your case to grab onto.

I use it for short and long colt. Don't remember if my sizer die is a Lyman or RCBS it is 358 diameter I can feel when the bottom band pops into the die. This makes the bottom band almost the same diameter as the bottom lube grove. I've also loaded them by pushing them into the die just enough to put a small bevel on them then load them.

I drop them into an upside down 357 collet Lee factory crimp die, and squeeze the base down so it has a heel in it. Then load them into 38 long brass to fire in a Marlin Ballard

If you have access to a lathe, cutting heels on any bullet is a breeze. Here is a short video showing how I do it.
