    Rockchucker press...good for 45/70 and .45-110 ?? Source ? .45-110 load data

Will the Rock Chucker handle these two calibers and does RCBS have shell holders for both calibers.

.45-110 load data...my Lyman book has zero. Where do I find load data for modern smokeless powders.

I don't want to buy a press that won't reload these calibers.

    Your help very much appreciated.

The rockchucker should work, rcbs has the shell holder its #14 for both rounds, and smokless data is in the lyman cast bullet book.

    Sir,
My Lyman Castbullet book has no loads for 45-110. Pls re look your book and if there is such loads, what is the edition of your book ? Mine is 1989, shows 45-70 only.

As to RCBS Rock Chucker..."should work"...do mean it will work ???

The Rockchucker will absolutely work for the .45-70. Not sure if the original one is long enough (window height) for the 45-110, but RCBS has been making a stretched version for a few years now.

I don't have my books here, so no help on smokeless data.

It will work, I have both a RC Supreme (IV) and an RC II and both work and I load a .45-90 no sweat.

I load my 45-70 rounds on a rock chucker, they just barely fit! I am loading the 535gr Postall, which is a long bullet and I have to kind of push them up into the die mouth a bit then seat them in the case.
I am looking at the new RCBS Summit press, will probably get one this winter!

For 45-110 loads, Lymans 48th Edition Reloading Handbook has them.

Lyman cast bullet handbook, 4th edition, has data for the 45-110-2 7/8 AND 45-120-3 1/4.

A Rockchucker is all I ever loaded .45-70 on and while I don't load .45-110, I do load .458 Win Mag, which is longer, with the Lyman 500 grain round nose.

Yeah, a Rockshucker will handle pretty much anything smaller than .50 BMG, you can't find a better general purpose press.

I use the rockchucker, no problem, for my 45/70. Sorry I do not load the longer shells yet ?

The opening on my rockchucker is just under 4" and I have loaded .45-90's using 535 gr postell's without a problem as for loading data lymans cast bullet vol 4 has everthing from .45-70 to .45-120 including the .45-110

I've loaded 470 Nitro Express on my Rockchucker, boolit is inserted into mouth of seater die, shell slid under boolit, then the boolit is lowered into case mouth then seated.

It works better with a Lyman T-mag, but not by much.

Not sure if the 45-110 is longer. Can't be much different.

Finally looked up the difference between the big nitro express cases and the 45-110. The 450/470 N.E. measure out at 3-1/4". The 45-110 is a puny 2-7/8".

    Ought to fit.

The difference between the 45-90 and the 45-110 is just length of case right? No major case shape differences?

Would 45-90 loads be a good starting point? Kind of like shooting 44 special loads in 44 Mag cases. That gives a lighter load without the nasty carbon ring to remove if you shoot 44 special cases.

Larger case capacity of the same case profile gives lower pressure, right?

Wouldn't expect it to lower pressure enough to get stuck boolits, right?

If that's the case, there's a fair amount of 45-90 data available.

Or am I going to get somebody's gun blown up?

Nobody chiming in if it's a good idea or not?

I've got 45-90 data going back to, I think 1941. Would post it, or at least photo's of the loading manuals if it's oky doky to use 45-90 data for start loads for 45-110.
