    Buck with .358 Win Cast

Traveled north to hunt WI for the gun deer opener last weekend. Weather was awful with fridged temps, 20-30 mph winds, and snowing sideways at times. After some long cold sits, I was able to harvest a nice 9 point in the final 20 minutes of shooting light Sunday evening. Took the buck behind the shoulder at 105 yards with a Saeco #352 that dumped him in his tracks.

    Saeco #352 (239 gns with Lyman #2)
    39.0 gns H4895
Checked and sized to .359" with Felix lube
    Chrono 2,000 FPS

Very good 358 performance. Nice WT buck with an excellent woods cartridge.

.358 Win. = Works every time!
The solid soft lead bullet is undoubtably the best and most satisfactory expanding bullet that has ever been designed. It invariably mushrooms perfectly, and never breaks up. With the metal base that is essential for velocities of 2000 f.s. and upwards to protect the naked base, these metal-based soft lead bullets are splendid.

It definitely was crappy weather opening day. Worse on Sunday. I hunted all day Saturday. Got harassed by the neighbors while in my tree stand from 8 to 8:45 am and again from 4 to close. Called the Sheriff on them for the second year in a row and have videos this year for proof. Screwed up deer hunting needless to say. I had been seeing several deer and bucks every sit up till last Thursday bow hunting. Good thing I shot a dandy archery season because I only saw one deer, a small buck, Saturday. I passed on it liking for something a little bigger. I did drill a coyote right after the neighbor left the first time. I had a sinus head ache from sitting ALL day Saturday in my tree stand out in the wind so I took Sunday off. Monday morning I took a 9 point party hunting with a split G2. It’s a little guy I passed on several times bow hunting. Been out the last 2 days and saw zero deer. I have quite a few more tags to fill so I’ll hunt the mornings till about noon through Sunday and will continue during muzzle loader season. It was 41 degrees when I walked out at noon today but was around 22 when I walked in before daylight. Nice job!

Wow. Congrats on that buck. Northern Whitetails are big in the body and take a thumpin to put down. Every year in my neck of the woods someone takes a 275lb or better.
