Thanks guys. It truly was a great satisfaction casting my own bullets to take my deer. So much goes into this. Checking bore dimensions and doing a pound cast of chamber to get correct boolit size. Playing with different loads to get all the accuracy I could. Getting the 44 mag to shoot well is a challenge with the oversized bore but I’ve got some decent accuracy now. Best thing it did was make me practice more. Shooting more is never a bad thing

@Dman75 good job and it is addicting. What alloy are you using, I'm getting ready to start loading for my Marlin .44 Mag using the NOE 432-265. I'd like to use it for Black Bear next year.

WVMedic - I use range scrap lead with a little solder added to help fill out. I do air cool also. Hardness is 12-13 after casting. Air cool after powder coating also. On my gun I checked bore size and also did a pound cast for the chamber. Those results showed I needed a boolit size of .4335 so I opened up a Lee push thru sizer from .431 to .4335. Accuracy is good with most loads. I can hold about 2” at 50 with open sights. Probably as good as my older eyes can do.

    Good morning ad Congratulations !
Thank you for the good photo of your 1st Home Brewed Cast Slug" young tender buck! Good "0 dark early" reading.

Dman75, thank you and I absolutely understand about poor eye sight. I have to use optics, seems that my eye sight has steadily degraded since I turned 50.

You done great. Nice deer , enjoy it you will be wanting to get more. I was happy when I first got a deer with my own cast . Happy for you and I have the same type of rifle also, but I do the early muzzle loader season here .
