    First Cast Bullet Buck -WV

My first self cast boolit buck or deer actually. Marlin 1894 44 mag. Shooting 240 gr WFN powder coated with 20 gr of 2400. Fire sights on the rifle as my eyes aren’t good enough for brass bead. Shot was about 80 yds. Deer got what we refer to as negative yardage. Flipped him sideways over a blow down. Boolit combo worked perfect. Shot was a tad low but took out lower heart. Sooo much fun hunting this way.

    Thanks! Exciting day for sure.
Learned so much from this site. Loads of great information and probably thousands of years of combined experience. Never would’ve got this accomplished so well without Cast Boolits!

Yup, nothing like harvesting an animal with a boolit you made! Excellent job!

Definitely hooked. Casting bullets and shooting iron sights is just an entire challenge all to itself. So much fun just to punch paper but then throwing in the hunt is a another level. There’s a lot of sportsmen that don’t know what they’re missing.

Dman75 Good job and great shooting for that distance and open sights you did good. That is a nice buck and looks a little on the heavy side. You are going to be getting some choice meat there, and done properly it will be very tasty and some of the best red meat you will eat. I went today for the last day of our regular season. Nothing seen at my stand. I did jump one up on the way in but no chance for a shot. I'll be doing our up-coming doe season soon so I get to keep after them. I'm using my old Marlin 444 this year. It is a great rifle and a great caliber. I have put a Skinner "peep" on it and it is my first time to use a sight of that type.

Way to go! Using your own bullets adds to the experience, for sure! That's a nice rifle- is the loading gate gold plated?

Thanks for all the replies! Great day for sure.
The loading gate is the Ranger Point Precision anodized gold gate. Also added the quick takedown screw for lever and RPP trigger. It is a sweet little setup now. Loading gate and trigger are awesome. Gate is so much easier to load now.
Learned so much about casting boolits from this site. Boolit fit to the chamber and bore. Powder coating. List could go on and on. This wouldn’t have happened if not for this awesome site. I would’ve been shooting some jackets for sure. Now I look at those Sierra Gamekings and Hornady XTP’s and wonder when I’ll use them.
