What were you casting those Lyman's with for alloy?

With slugs i mostly just use plain lead. However i have used wheel weight with 2% tin.

I have to say it will kill. It is very effective.

3 deer shot they all took 1 or two steps and died in place. One doesnt really count because i shot it in the spine.

On the other side. As meat hunter these slugs do waste some meat. The exit holes are just ridiculous and i found the little petals up to 10 inches away from the entrance wound in the most unlikely places.

I am pushing these to 1300fps with 800x in win AA hulls and a ballistic products green brush wad out of a savage 212 and i am very comfortable hitting a deer at 100meters. Past that it drops fairly quickly.

With ammo prices up and these still only costing me like 25 cents until i run out of supplies. This will be my slug of choice.

My buddy is also using a 212 with Hornady SST. This is killing as quick if not quicker and doesn't cost 3.50 a round
As long as you are below 1300 fps the recoil shouldn't be more than a normal AA Trap Load. I would think you could shoot 200 of these in one afternoon and be fine. In Shotgun Payloads 1 oz. is 1 oz. doesn't matter if it is shot or slugs or sand it all weighs the same so the shell doesn't know the difference. But 1150-1200 fps might work a little better and be easier on your shoulder and the meat..

You still got pretty good results, but slowing down the slug a little might not waste as much meat?

As is sits these are the most Vicious Slugs I have seen so far. Dang Rusky's anyway!

If i remember correctly the last one i weighed was 585 grains with the wad attached which i think is like 1.33 ounces. Its definitely over 1 oz

As far as the alloy these are behaving like i cast them with wheel weight with 2% tin

These men and their hypnotized followers call this a new order. It is not new. It is not order.
