    Svaroboy 12g shotgun results

Recently i had a chance to test the svarog sveroboy 12g slug versus 3 deer.

I have to say it will kill. It is very effective.

3 deer shot they all took 1 or two steps and died in place. One doesnt really count because i shot it in the spine.

On the other side. As meat hunter these slugs do waste some meat. The exit holes are just ridiculous and i found the little petals up to 10 inches away from the entrance wound in the most unlikely places.

I am pushing these to 1300fps with 800x in win AA hulls and a ballistic products green brush wad out of a savage 212 and i am very comfortable hitting a deer at 100meters. Past that it drops fairly quickly.

With ammo prices up and these still only costing me like 25 cents until i run out of supplies. This will be my slug of choice.

My buddy is also using a 212 with hornady sst. This is killing as quick if not quicker and doesnt cost 3.50 a round

We have put down 3 apiece these last two weekends. And at no time spent more than a couple minutes finding them. Also hunting on ft campbell is next level amazing right now

Is it against the rules to post exit wound photos?

Yeah that's pretty excessive for usual hunting, but if you live somewhere you can't retrieve game on private land, then these would be a very good choice. I'm sure eventually you will get a runner, but that slug is surely going to put deer down most of the time.

I’ve said it once and I’ll say it again: I’d rather lose a pound or so of meat for a quick recovery any day.

I’ve been lucky enough to take quite a few hogs, deer, and one black bear with Russia slugs. They are very effective.

Dang....hits harder than a freight train. I too would rather sacrifice a little to not deal with tracking or retrieval plans.

They are pretty accurate as well. This is zeroing at 50m. Was zeroing for 2.5 inches high so the projectile drop at 100 would be right on.

After shooting 24/25 in one round of testing i will say this thing has some recoil to it. They kind of kill from both ends. I couldnt make myself shoot the last one my shoulder was pretty punished. Your results may vary as i have a torn labrum in my shoulder.

    Very nice!

I have had accurate results as well, killed nothing with them yet though.

Did you use any without the three petal design? My 20g I bought both solid and petal mold inserts and have only tried the solid so far, not quite there yet.
Most of the tanks are gone and the windows don't rattle anymore. I won't be able to sleep now.

Yeah i have a savage 220 as well. I was unable to get these to the same level of accuracy before hunting season.

Here is zeroing at 15 yards after boresight.

Then here is 75m. Somewhere between 15 and 75 the wad is detaching from the slug amd destabilizing the projectile. Not every round, but enough.

I ran out of time for testing. Also lack of supplies for 20g during pandemic. I love the 220 and its incredibly accurate with hornady sst and other factory slugs. I just havent figured out the russian reloads for it yet.

Additionally, the savage 220 and 212 in my testing love full bore slugs. And they tear up and destabilize any slug in wad designs.
