two weeks shooting three loads of Lyman 525 slugs

I spent about two weeks and fire around a hundred rounds of lyman 525 grain slugs through two guns. A mossberg 500 with cantilever barrel and a 1100 with a hastings paradox barrel..Here are some things I learned about these two guns and how the groups ended up..
The mossberg: It liked the cheddite load of a clear cheddite hull, 34.0 gr of longshot with a trap commander wad. bare slug in shot cup,no filler , no cards..My ending groups at 85 yards were roughly 2 1/2", good flight, wads are in great shape and mostly completely intact..The PT1215 wad shot ok but not as well as the trapmaster.
My mossberg barrel hates to get hot and hates to be plastic fouled. If I shot more than 10 times without cleaning the plastic fouling my groups started to open up. tightened right back up after cleaning..
My hastings paradox barrel was not picky about anything I feed it..It shot two different cheddite loads pretty well but loves a very simple load. AA hull with 30gr of WSF and a WAA12R wad. Slug straight in the shot cup, no filler no base.. It consistently shot just over 2" at 57 yards with open sights..wads pedals were sheared but accuracy is very good so no big deal to me..gas seals were not blown or destroyed. just sheared pedals

Nice work there KY! That first load pairs nicely with my pet load too. I ain’t that good with a shotgun bead though, my rig is scoped. That will deal with one of those big Kentucky whitetails.

My favorite load is 25gr of herco and a waa12 wad. 1-1/8 of shot for scattering or the 525 slug for smashing. I have since sold that mould and ran out of 525's and use the lee 7/8. I kinda regret that.
