Anyone ever had a professional Cerokote finish applied to pistol slide? If so, can you recommend person who does this?
My Sig M17 has the Sig PVD finish, and this coating is absolutely worthless. It scratches and rubs off with the least exposure. a Sharpie marker pen has more wear resistance than the factory Sig PVD finish. I am not exaggerating.
At the point on the muzzle where the plastic frame touches the slide as it cycles, the plastic took the finish down to bare metal in less than 100 rounds. After firing 500 rounds, in and out of the holster, there is much wear on the finish.
The pistol itself is really a good shooter, no jams, and shoots cast boolits great, but you could lay it down in a velvet box and scratch it.
I have 20 year old Glocks that show hardly any finish wear.
I know firearms get wear with use, but this a pitiful finish.
I would like to have the slide Cerokoted...before I let my OCD convince me to trade it on another Glock.
