Lachmiller priming tool owners- a request

    Good morning all,

I bought an old lachmiller with the standard shell holder adapter but the primer punch rods are missing. I was wondering if one of you that has some could measure the large and small rods and give me the dimensions so I could try to fabricate my own. Adapter rods pictured below.

    Thanks, monte

I believe these use the same rods as both the RCBS Auto priming tool and Std priming tool.
RCBS says their stock of replacement priming posts is exhausted.
But call anyway, ya never know unless you call.

I have the same setup as you, it was given to me and unfortunately, I'm missing the rods too.
I planned on making some but have not gotten around to it.
I have one rod, but it must be for shotgun primers as it is too big to enter a standard shell holder.

I have a complete set up with both the flat and dished punches. I'm on the road at the moment, but if no one posts dimensions I'll pull out mine and do a rough drawing. I found that there are older shell holders (RCBS) with the larger primer press hole drilled thru, these seem to be used with the large primers. The small bushing and primer rods fit all current shell holders.

    That brings back memories.
i used one of those to set primers for a lot of years.
I changed to the RCBS Auto Prime because of the primer feed and it will use standard shell holders.

I have the unit RCBS calls the “Standard”. It uses regular shell holders and the same plungers as the RCBS bench tool that has the primer feed.

I am in the process of modifying my tool to use standard Lee shell holders using modified Lee ram primer seating rods.
I believe it will be an improvement over the original design.
It is almost finished, after I work out everything and test it, I will post what I did and dimensions.

They do not use the same rods.

Thanks metricmonkeywrench, for the drawings, exactly what I needed.
