I have a Contender barrel for 45 Colt. The lightest of the factory barrels (Octagon - external choke). Full power "TC / Ruger" was brutal. With a 12" round barrel, 1200 fps should be a lot more comfortable to shoot.
For the 1200 fps you desire, 2400 is a lot slower than needed. All of the Quickload calculated loads are well below the 30,000 psi limit for the Contender. Faster powders will minimize muzzle blast.
