    .348 WIN to 45-110?

Greetings; My friend just acquired an 1874 Shiloh Sharps in 45-110 and asked me to help him reload. I already reload my Marlin 1895GS 45-70. Click image for larger version.

I don't know if it still is but at one time it was common. That was pre-Starline. The cases had to be stretched and reduced so it's more than just fireforming. Buffalo Arms sold them. I still have my receipt and cases for 100 45-100 from 348's

I don't think it will work. If the .45-110 is the one I'm thinking of it is basically a long (2.6" IIRC) .45-70 case.

The .348 originated as one of the .50 caliber Winchester cases. It is used for several off the .50 variants, plus can be made to work for a bunch of the BP bottleneck rounds.

if your measure is correct those must have been stretched - 348 I understand was derived from 50-110 - body base diameter for both is in the range .545 - .553 - 50-110 length is 2.40 , 348 length is 2.255 (you would expect shortening in the neck forming process) yours is 2.855 = correct length for 45 -110, but what about body diameter ? the 348 should be fatter than 45 basic brass ?? a few question marks here?

wiki says 45 thou smaller body size - Buffalo must have swaged those 348 's down in the stretching process

I haven't compared dimensions so this may not be correct but it looks like the rim was modified also on the 348 to 45-100 I have.

I use .348’s to make 50-95’s. Shortening is needed as the final process.

    Long live the 50-95 !
With a 350 grainer it really puts the whollop on steel at 200 yards. But in reality it is a 50-90/350. 3F Goex with a cereal box wad.
