    Interesting contender case

Recently added another contender to my collection a beautiful plum colors original hard open frame with a few barrels and scopes. I had no idea until I picked up the gun from the gentleman that it cane with a case. I have never seen this type of case before nor was I able to find anything online using Google and using reverse image search. Has anyone seen this type of case in the past? Wasn't a prototype case or a special offering of some sort. The molded portion will fit a contender with a super 14 barrel and scope.

Thanks in advance for any input.

Never seen one before either, and I've been shooting Tenders since the mid 70's.

My first thought, on seeing the first picture, was Doskosil (sp). But then most of the cases they made had the cheesy little luggage locks that can be unlocked with a pocket knife blade.

    Maybe MTM?

Looks like the previous owner found an already made case that was of the proper dimensions, and got a tray made. I once took a plastics class where you could make trays or inserts by thermoforming them. Basically, you had a heated sheet of plastic, placed over the item, lowered the platen and applied vacuum. Waited a few minutes, and the plastic sheet would reharden, then you could trim the excess.

Back when handgun Silhouette was all the rave. Someone probably was making these up as a prototype range box.
If the liner was formed foam I would like to have 3 of them.
I will put two 14 inch barreled pistols and one ten inch barreled pistol in a good quantity foam rifle case when I go on my handgun groundhog hunting adventures.

Thanks everyone for the responses. Found a guy who has the same case so I'm trying to get some details from him.

The paperwork in the third picture appears to identify it as a Container™ product. Any contact info or other clues on the paperwork?

I never even bothered to look at the paperwork as I glanced st it thinking it was purely contender manuals. You sir are correct it is a product of The Container.

So is Airmold still in business?

I confess I misread that as Contender in the first upside down picture...

It appears Airmold sold to W.R. Grace in 2018.
