Which is more effective, a 300 grain 45 that penetrate 5 feet of bear and then travels another 500 yards or a 405 grain 45 that penetrates 5 feet of bear and then travels another 1000 yards?
Spell check doesn't work in Chrome, so if something is spelled wrong, it's just a typo that I missed.

I'd choose a hard cast 405 gr. because it will penetrate even if it meets a big bone or two... or three!

Most everything around here grows big because the temperatures are moderate and food is fairly plentiful. Our hogs get real big 5-600 pounds as do our blackies. The hogs are very destructive and can be hard to kill if riled up. No body messes with the blacks much, unless they get to be a problem or pest. I like a heavy bullet with a big flat meplat, 2-400 grains in a 358 or 458 rifle. They work well on front to back or side to side shots. Always, shot placement is the main point of the exercise.
