Either, of course, work just fine. good luck and warm that 'ol girl up!
Thanks, that's great! .Wasn't aware you could even do that.

450; Did you ever get some loads worked up for that new 38-55? Tell us about it.

Unfortunately, I’m still trying to gather everything for it. I have most everything but still short a couple of things. Living in Fairbanks, Alaska puts a big damper on supplies plus it’s not your normal cartridge. I will post my results when I get it to blazing.

All the great success photo's with 38-55 Winchester cast boolits now has me dragging my old Marlin 1893 out of the safe. It is an octagonal barreled rifle with a sharp bright bore. Only problem is I slugged the bore and it is .380" ! Lyman doesn't offer a .382 sizer. My cast boolits come out of my Lyman mould at .379. That's not big enough! So found some Clover brand valve grinding compound to spin lap the mould out .003". My .379" sizer will have to be annealed and opened up to .382" Good time to start as rifle season in PA is over. Hope to be ready by November 2024 season.

I got an H&R 1871 in .38-55. Lyman 375449 boolits were tumbling at 50 yards. Ended up going to the Lyman 380681 mould. Mine drop at .380 using 50-50 Wheel weights and pure lead. Lube with Orange magic. 28.0 gr of IMR 3031 seems to do the trick. Need to take it hunting this year.

An alternative to dragging deer when it's too rough to use a cart is one of the plastic sleds. Use mine a lot. Slides over rocks logs, stumps, etc. Also keeps all the dirt, leaves grass out of the cavity.

I just bought a Jet Sled from Bass Pro Shop. I didn't get a chance to use it this year, bought it too late in the season. It'll be around next year if I still am. -06

Glad this thread came back. I re-read it and found another wolf dog recipe to try.
