    Cast with 38-55

Winchester High Wall, 38-55, 215grn cast, air cooled clip on WW, tumble lubed in LLA/mineral spirits, 1700fps. 160 yards. I hit a bit high anticipating more drop but it put her down.

Wish I would have made that perfect shot, but 160 yards offhand with open sights and I made a bit of an error. She did take a finisher to the neck at about ten yards, but she left a blood trail you could find by feel and wasn't going very far.

You gotta like those results. Fine big doe and good hunting/shooting country to enjoy as well.

You know, it happens, 160 is a long way off hand for me. But she dropped and is now in the cooler so I can't complain much.

    Congratulations! Meat in the freezer.
I hope to get one with my 38-55 this season.
It'll need to be about 100yds closer than yours- for me!

No gas check, never had one that didn't exit so I don't have any performance info. It's the Lee 379-250. https://www.midwayusa.com/product/1010207084?pid=476137

Good shooting , I'm running the lee 250 in 375 Win that was my Dad's. I'm water cooling my boolits but I'm planning on tempering the noses on the ones I'm hunting with .

    Good morning and Congratulations !
That High Wall... is it one of the new ones with the 28" barrel ? We have one but in 375 H&H. Fine rifles !

Hope it's ok to add a few that are not cast. GF got her WT with a 30-30 Win 94 (150grn Interlock at 2400fps) and then cheated and got a mulie doe at 130 with her 7mm-08 shooting the 154 Interlock at 2900ish fps. I also took a female antelope earlier in the year with an AR in .223 wild and a 75grn Gold Dot at about 2600fps and 200 yards.

I'm reading this while enjoying some venison heart stroganoff.
Clean venison heart, marinade in buttermilk overnight. Dice and roll in salted flower and brown. Use 1/2 cup red wine to deglaze pan and then simmer in beef bone broth for 2 hours. Saute mushrooms and garlic in pan, add to broth and heart mixture, saute onions and garlic and do same. Cook 3 cups egg noodles till tender and add to mix. Thicken the sauce, add sour cream to taste, salt, pepper, garlic , and a touch of rosemary.

Just for fun, my 4x4 mulie buck from last year. Henry single shot .357 mag and a lee .358/158GC tumble lubed and air cooled at about 1500fps. First shot was 109 yards and got both lungs, as he didn't drop but I knew he was hit I reloaded and took a second shot. He had walked a few steps so was at 120 yards and I heart shot him.
