Update: The future of Hammerhead slugs and SlugRus

I don’t believe I’ve shared the word here, but I bought SlugRus out. We’re in the final proceedings of finalizing the business transaction.

I’m really excited to get things back up and running again.

    More to come….

Does the purchase come with plastic injection molding machines?

Not the actual machines, but two, 24 cavity injections molds (they weight 2000 lbs a piece). The owners contracted a local injection molding service for the wads.

I’ll be doing the same, except I’m having the molds shipped to Texas and I’m having them made here.

Leon: Get some stock made before you move the molds! There will be a "Learning Curve" with the new Injection Molding shop to get your product where you want it. Make sure you understand the ins and outs of the process from the original guys before you move the molds. There is always "issues" when you change vendors. Especially when that Vendor has always made the product from the start and might not feel too good about it going somewhere else. They may resort to Vandalism so you need to inspect everything with Slugs R Us to make sure everything is proper before you sign off. Replacement molds will be in the Mid $5 figures.

Also get the formula and source for the plastic they use, as there are only about 5000 different ones..

I have had several products Ripped Off when the customers decided to shop my prices to others, after I did all the engineering on the product and got it up and running with the caveat that I would be doing all the production. That last part got forgot about by the Customers and I find out when I see the product out in public and it wasn't made by me! Kind of deflating and the follow up call was not nice. Nothing I could do about it but learn from the mistake.

Now I charge for any engineering up front, and have a written and signed contract before I start work, and I don't have that problem any more.

If you need any help with that stuff don't hesitate to contact me. PM me or go thru my website.

    Good advice from Randy.

I used to be in the injection molding business. We made dairy cases, bread trays and shutters. Large molds and none were less than $150k. I think Randy is light on his $5k number so be careful.

I would hold back a percentage until the molds were running well at the shop you select...but you may have already closed on the deal.

I trust all goes well ! It will be good to have the operation run from a Freedom State.
