    Thanks guys for all the good replies, suggestions & formulas. It's obvious there are some very expert stock'smiths on the forum.

    I finally got the grain filled & the finish to my satisfaction. The count is 11 coats of Tru-Oil with a 0000 rub-down between coats. I plan to leave the stock hanging in the sun for a couple of days for a complete dry & then I may wax it. I'll post a follow-up picture.

    If I can't get the info I need with a search, my next thread starter may be asking for help in touching up the metal! This is a great forum to be a member of!

    Didn't turn out too bad. Still like using Tru-Oil.
