It looks like our drought is about to break

With all the fires-- The heat wave & drought this summer was worse than usual.
There's supposed to be some weather coming next week that should put some water back into the area lakes.

    Until then---
There ain't going to be much fishing off the end of the back yard.

Yeah, but not supposed to be much precip, weather girl is saying no more than a half inch, probably less.

I just dug out my stock tank - it’s 12’ deeper than it was a month ago. Now we just need rain…

We're sort of on the bottom end of what is supposed to drop 3-4" or so.

Right now in southern Nebraska it is 87 degrees, 12% humidity, 35 mph winds with gusts to 50 and the sky is brown with dirt. And as I type this update, the rural fire department grass fire rig just headed west out of town.

Brown sunsets are pretty rare here.
As a kid, we lived in El Paso and saw them a lot.

Not too long after this post, 2 more grass rigs, the pumper/crew truck, tanker, and Sherriff headed west. I stepped out just before 9pm and you can smell the smoke.

Out here in the Great Basin, we've got clouds. Had 23 drops of rain night before last. jd
It seems that people who do almost nothing, often complain loudly when it's time to do it.

We got an inch and a half yesterday so that's much better than a poke in the eye with a sharp stick. However, I expect it will dry out pretty quickly now...

We go a short burst last night around midnight but it did not last long.
More expected at the end of the week.

Yeah, that's all we got too.
I never measured it, but we're not too far from Longview, and it's covered on our TV weather reports.

We got a 3" rain this afternoon, 3 inches between drops. Just enough to stick the dust to the truck. But they are calling for an inch of snow tonight on the west side of Denver. We have measured 0.3" for October at our place so far. Hope you TX guys get more.

On the other side of the mountains, they are calling for 1-3" of snow. I will believe it when I see it. We did get a dusting the other day and the ground was kind of white/green, but it melted rapidly. At least a little bit of moisture. 17 degrees a few days ago, when I got up.

edit--Surprised, weather people got it right!! Little over 2" of snow and still coming down lightly. At least its some moisture!

This has been a great fall when we in the Texas Panhandle can end the growing season with green grass belly deep to the cattle it has been a good year. We are still behind average but we got rain at just the right time all Summer. P S haven't seen a weather forecast in a year I watch the animals they get it right.
