    Ginex Small pistol primers review

Decided to try some Ginex small pistol primers, as CCI SP are hard to find.

The Ginex SP primers work just fine for me in 9mm loads. As to being a "hard" primer, they seem no different in my pistol than the CCI SP's I use.

I have a Glock 48 with a reduced-power Striker spring, #4.5 (down from stock OEM #5.5) and the G48 has no trouble setting them off, just like it works with the CCI's.

Also a Glock 19x with a reduced-power #5 pound spring and perfect ignition every time.

    My Sigs and CZ's,....perfect ignition.

Thanks, Hickok, for the information. I purchased some of these primers but have not used them yet. Appreciate the report.

I saw some of the Ginex small pistol primers at the last show; they were $10 a sleeve and CCI spp's were $14. Never heard of them before and wondered about them. Thanks for the report; not that I'll be plunking down any money for them at this time.

I’ve burned through 1k or so of them with no performance issues. They can be a bit tight is some primer pockets though.

I have used 5000 of them, have 5000 left. A little tight in some brand cases.

I bought 5k this summer. They are slightly larger in diameter than the U.S. primers are. Once in a while, one is hard seating. They all have gone bang 100% for me. No hesitation to buy more if needed.

good to know. next time Grafs has cases of 5000 for $100 I need to buy some, still kicking myself for not placing order when they closed them out at similar prices.

I bought some after reading this thread. I have had zero problems with them in 9mm as well. Yesterday I decided to start loading for 380 and a large portion of them took a second strike to fire. I Switched in CCI small pistol and the problem went away. I’m curious now how they would work in 38 special?

And also since 9mm had zero issues, would all my 9’s ignite small rifle primers?

So much to do and not enough hours in the day...

That is going to be a specific gun issue and not a primer issue. That 380 is striking far to lightly I think you will find.

Yeah, I think there are enough of us that if this ever happened, you blink and it's over.

If the primers fire on a second strike it's possible they weren't quite fully seated. I had similar issue, 1 or 2 out of 1000, when I first started using Wolf/Tulammo primers which are also larger than ours. After paying more attention, I didn't have any other failures in my next brick. Sadly, once I was finally satisfied I could use them reliably, they were gone with the wind.

This is good to know. Wonder if they make them in large pistol?

I suspect that you are correct. Which is why I am thinking about trying rifle primers in 9mm kinda as a baseline to see if any particular one has an issue. Maybe try them on occasion as an early warning test?

No complaints with Ginex here. Use them in .380/ .9mm / .38 spl/ .40 SW and sometimes .357sig.
Only a couple duds in a couple thou. Mid-South had them, in bulk, and I missed them…. Went fast.
I had to resort to giving 1K Servicios y Aventuras a try. Loaded some, will post results and review, after range day.
    Just because it’s a bad idea…
    …. Doesn’t mean it won’t be a good time !

I’ve went through thousands of their SP, LP & SPMs. The SPMs are the only ones that occasionally FTF in striker fired pistols.
