I think I am ready for deer season. This is my best at 30 meters standing. It was the best 5 shot group I shot Tuesday. It is a 158 gr. flat point Lee bullet of about 12 BHN in front of 15.7 grains of H110 with an Argentina primer out of my .357 NMBLKH. The average of all my shooting that day was in the 1.5 to 2 inch groups. The bullets were shot as cast tumble lubed with 45-45-10 lube.

Most of my game will be feral hogs, but if a deer comes along....

If you use this information cut the load by 10% and work up slowly.

    I don't see a problem.

Just don't forget to lick your thumb and rub it on the front sight.
I see it done on TV a lot, so it must be important.

Great shooting! I've killed a deer with a .357 Blackhawk and it worked just fine. Good luck on your hunts.

Quickest deadest deer I ever shot was with a 357magnum Contender single shot . 125 Grn PMC soft point at 75 yards . I was in high school (35 yrs ago) me and a friend were sitting on a hill side and some doe came out of a plum thicket in some tall grass . I line up on the top of the breast bone on the biggest doe , facing me and squeezed the round off . I had a two handed grip between my knees , with recoil I could see the other deer had split . I didn’t see where my deer had gone . So I asked my friend where she went and he said she’s still there , he said when I shot it was like some invisible force slammed her straight down . I’ve killed several more deer with 357mag , 357 maximum, 35 Remington none ever went more than 20 yards . Oh I found that PMC bullet in a perfect mushroom just under the skin on her rear ham , so something like 36” of penetration .

What is the maximum range you hunt at? If I had a 30 yard shot I wouldn't know what to do, especially if I was standing. I plan on a 200-300 yard shot kneeling or prone.

Looks like you are ready to get in the thick stuff and go after them. Good luck.

Most of my shots on feral hogs and feral dogs is about 50 yards at the most. I usually don't hunt deer but I have taken shots at them at 75 yards.

Great group, and good luck hunting. IMHO you should make the picture of that group your new avatar.

That group reminds me of a 4 leaf clover. I'm not one that believes in luck, but I will say if you put that group in the right spot on a game animal and it will put out the lights. Yes, you are ready.

That plus if you can control the adrenalin dump / pounding heart you should survive the event.
