Green Dot in 9mm loads?

I have some GD powder I want to try in my 9mm pistol.
Found a few loads in a old Lyman manual. I loaded a box
with 3.8 grs of Green Dot with a 125 gr Lee RF bullet.
Anyone else use GD in there 9mm's?

Used it ages ago. If that is all you have go for it. It's dirty but you get good velocity with it.

FYI, For some powders, the 2005 Alliant booklet has loads not on the Alliant web site. I consider this "good" load data as it provides pressure values in psi.

And Green Dot is probably pretty good for the 9mm. Biggest downside is likely to be less than ideal metering through your measure.

Back in the Obama shortage, I picked up a pound of Green Dot as it was about all that was on the shelf and I tried it until I ran across a 8 lb jug of Red Dot. I was using a Ideal/Lyman 358242 120 isn grain round nose - loading for a Ruger SR9 and a Smith Shield. It worked just fine but as mentioned above e, it was a bit dirtier but not bad.

I no longer have the data I was using but your 3.8 gr. sounds about right to try and adjust from there. Your pistol will let you know. I remember that my Shield need about 0.2 grains more than my SR9 to cycle like should, but I also found that to be true with Bulls Eye and Red Dot.

J also tried the Green Dot in my 30-30s and 8mm Mauser with reduced cast loads. I found Red Dot to work a bit better for some reason but the Green Dot gave acceptable results.

You should be fine with the Green Dot and like said already, if that's what you have, give it a try.

Just because of what I experienced with having to up the charge in order to get my Shield to cycle correctly as opposed to the SR9 I had, I hope you'll come back and share how the GD is working for you and what you are shooting it in and if you have to adjust the 3.8 grains to get you pistol to cycle or if it cycles just fine with that load. Just curious as I would have no problems picking up more GD to have on hand if I ran across any.

Green Dot worked well in 9mm when I used it.
One thing to keep in mind. Green Dot is temperature sensitive. Enough so that you will feel and hear a difference in recoil and sound when the temperatures change.

I have other powders.... I just wanted to try it in the 9mm.
I'm shooting a Taurus GX4 with a 3" barrel. It does have a
pretty stout recoil spring. I really don't see how you could
get much more than 3.8 grs in the case. It's pretty full with
that load and, to much more, I don't think you could seat the bullet.

You can find a good deal of Green Dot handgun data in the older Speer Reloading Manuals ...
I am looking at Speer #8 , Speer #9 and Speer #10 ... all I need now is to score some green dot . With the maker (I'm not sure who owns Green Dot this week) no longer pushing Green Dot as a handgun powder maybe a can or three will show up on the dealer's shelf and I can score some . I like the burn rate of this one and never have tried it !
