    New project Mauser

I'm no pro by any means. But I like to tinker. And a lot of the info on this forum sure has helped me along, so I thank you all.
I've done a few of these now so I'm kinda getting used to them. But you never soak it all up.
1895 Chilien with a McGowen barrel to 22" in 35 Remington.
Ebay stock and Timney trigger. It's ready now, so I have to start shooting soon to be ready for deer season.

Good caliber for the 95 Mauser. Nice stock profile.

I like the caliber and the profile of the stock, especially the shorter forend. I do all mine that way. Very nice work, keep it up. james

Looks good, Ajohns. .35 Rem. is a good choice.

From a getting to be old guy, "OLD SCHOOL" clean lined Mauser's are always appreciated. Nice job!

That will make a real handy deer rifle. I love the 1895 Chilean: it's my favorite of the small ring Mauser actions.

I do too. But I really can't say any different as I have only used those. This will be #3 now.
257 Roberts (barreled the action and minor start on the stock)
    35 Remington (this one)
    450 Bushmaster (in the works)

I love it. The rifle. The cartridge.
    But that's too much scope....

    Very too much scope.
I might change later to an old school weaver K4. This one was really for getting the bolt handle sculpted enough for ocular clearance. The other scopes I have I needed extension rings, and to me that's worse.

Looks nice. You should be happy with your work.
I have done a few M98s & R700s, and one Steyr M95, over the years, and used to like 24" barrels, but now find 20" (or a smidge less) very nice as well. They don't give up much, and don't snag onto much of anything.
Have fun, shoot some deer or whatever you have a tag for.

Here's one of it with an old K4 Weaver mounted to it. Style looks about right.

That looks great. My 93 30-30 also wears a Weaver K4.
My first custom Mauser(by me) was a Siamese Mauser with a McGowan barrel in 30-40 Krag. I did a lot of the work in high school VoAg shop. In the 1970's it was no big deal to bring a gun to school. "Leave it in your truck"- said the Superintendent.
