    Brass casting anyone?

I want to cast a trigger guard for a gun, anyone ever tried small brass casting? I’ve melted down aluminum in my homemade furnace but have not tried pattern making yet.

    Any advice?

Fine sand with linseed oil for the mold. Two part mold with lots of vents unless using lost wax method, then just lots of vents.
Shell case brass will not flow readily.
Need to look into what is needed to be added to ShellCase brass. There are two kinds of brass. Where lots of protective clothes.
Son made many lost wax brass castings in this way, for art stuff.

For Ppe do you need anything more then a p100 respirator? Zinc fumes?

There's several youtube videos of making the furnace and doing it.

For manufacturing I can see casting makes sense, but for a one-off piece wouldn’t it be easier to just machine it from stock?
