Anybody ID This Gun Part? - Came in a box that said Win. 88 / 100

Anybody ID This Gun Part? - Came in a box that said Win. 88 / 100 but I can't find anything on a schematic that even looks close.

I thought it may be an ejector of sorts but that is just a guess.

    Many thanks..... Duck

It has been so long since I had a Winchester Model 100 apart about the only thing I remember is thinking "The M14 is a heck of a lot simpler."

Your part does resemble an ejector, but for what I do not know.

    .

FWIW, I've completely dis-assembled my Winchester 100 Carbine in the past, but don't remember seeing/handling a part like that.

you're a braver man than I. I cringe at the thought.

Fortunately there are, or at least were, clear instructions on the internet about complete disassembly and reassembly of the Winchester Model 100. But I will also direct you to my remembered thoughts of doing it-- "The M14 is a heck of a lot simpler."

My reason for even attempting it was that my rifle-- a 1967 made .243, went click a couple of times while sighting it in. It did have the recall upgrade done to it, but I have no idea if that contributed to the failure to cock.

Didn't matter, it went click on the second deer. Followed by yet another full teardown. Two weeks or so later it went click on the second coyote.

Next local gunshow it went bye bye to a collector, and may not have been fired since.

It was a shame, the stock fit me like a good quail gun should. I just could not justify having a "Maybe it'll fire" rifle.

Kudo's to DG for identifying the part.

I took a model 100 apart once and will never do that again. The 2 I had were machine guns, as in full auto. The "fix" had not been done to them and I am sorry that they are not reliable because like Robert said, they pointed like a finger and had a pretty decent trigger. Both of mine were 308's and shot 150 gr Hornady's in 1 1/2" at 100 yds when you loaded only 1 round.
IT AINT what ya shoot--its how ya shoot it. NONE of us are as smart as ALL of us!
